Our program operates on a first come, first serve system when designating child care spaces to families. When a space isn't available for when you need it we invite you to join our waitlist and we will offer spaces when they open up. Our intake process begins with a tour and provision of the handbook. Choosing a place for your child is a big decision and we are happy to talk with you as often as you require though email, on the phone or multiple tours. To register for our program we require a completed contract and registration, payment the registration fee and a deposit of half of your child's first month fee. We know money is tight for families which is why we don't charge a wait list fee or a last month fee - we want to make quality child care as accessible as possible for all.
Schedule an orientation to see the layout of the program, meet the Program Supervisor and the Early Childhood Educators. We will cover many of the policies and procedures from our handbook and highlight the areas that set us apart. Feel welcome to bring a list of questions to ask. You can have as many orientations as you need, and if you can ask as many questions as you like, just send us an email or phone us to chat anytime. It is important that you feel comfortable with our program before registering.
Once you have completed the orientation and decided that Expanding Imaginations Child Care is a good fit for your child and your family, we will send you to registration package. To secure your space we require the paperwork returned and payment of the deposit and registration fee.
New places can be intimidating! We encourage families to schedule transition visits to allow for your child to spend time in their play room with you while they become familiar with the educators, children and the space. This allows families to build a relationship with the educator and share about your family, what is important to you and all the great attributes of your child. It can be good idea to bring the required supplies during this visit so there is less to remember on your first day.
On your child's first day we recommend you come early to help your child feel comfortable with us. Tears are not unusual for the children (and the parent) and we will help them through it by offering extra attention, distracting them, and offering hugs. Some children prefer to be alone with their emotions and we will check with them from time to time to offer support. Children can bring a comfort item from home, a picture of their family or a shirt that smells like their loved one to bring them comfort. If your child is not able to settle in and we think they are distraught we will call you to let you know but more often than not children quickly become engaged with the children and the activities. Feel welcome to phone or email to check in on your children through the day.
