Feeding, potty training, forming friendships, being "the boss" - this group is all about doing it themselves. Our facility has larger than normal classrooms giving us the ability to support a child's independence, allowing for a safer environment, more individualized care, and less stress for both the child and the educators. We believe in supporting each child's capabilities by providing the time and space for children to accomplish whatever they put their mind to.
Learning through play is supported outside, using natural, open ended materials that lets the children decide how to play rather than being used for a single purpose. The children have 2 hours of outside play each day -once in the morning and again in the afternoon.
Supporting the walking and running that is developing this yard has a smooth floor to prevent tripping. Push and pull toys support the independence this group craves with a sandbox for digging and pouring. Natural materials are used for climbing on and to allow for children to explore the different textures. Water play is provided on warm days and the children love watching the fire trucks drive past on their way back to the station.
