I believe that children learn best through play, such as physical play, play with objects, loose parts, symbolic play, or socio-dramatic play. Play is an instrument for the development of senses, the exercise of judgement through sensory experiences and contact with things. When children are playing, they learn about their intellectual level, physical abilities, their behaviors, and their socio-emotional interactions. While playing, they show what they know, understand, and what they can realize. Play is a connector between social development and development of a whole child. It improves communication, social problem solving, turn taking, and negotiation skills. Play makes learning something that happens naturally and joyfully, and when children laugh and wonder, explore and imagine, they learn to process and to construct meaning about the world around them, creating their knowledge and learning.

I am passionate about cooking for the children because they inspire me. Cooking helps me to form close relationships with the children and their families, and those relationships motivate me to create new and exciting meals for the children to enjoy. I feel fortunate that I am able to provide nourishment to the children that provides them with energy and nourishment to grow and learn all day.

As an early childhood educator, I help to guide children so that they can become the best versions of themselves as they grow and mature. In a child’s early years, they need to be able to rely on consistency of care and form bonds of trust with educators, and families depend on us to be positive role models for their children. I have a passion for working with children and I want to be able to nurture their development as much as possible to help them become capable citizens of their community.
